This reference book provides an overview of traditional knowledge related to the use of medicinal plants as well as scientific studies (human and animal based) highlighting the clinical effectiveness and safety.  It is a compilation on 25 popular medicinal plants that are used today in urban Jamaica (Payne Land, Kingston) and rural Jamaican (Windsor Forest and Portland parish).  It is a result of ethnobotanical research carried out in 2014 and 2015, utilizing 119 interviews, and authentication of botanical samples. Each monograph was completed using original field research and supplemental literature concerning the safety and clinical effectiveness.  This book was a culmination of a collaboration with New York Botanical Gardens, with funding from National Geographic.
