1 This course introduces learners to the fundamentals of microbiology, the microbial world, the beneficial and non beneficial effects of microbes and host microbe interaction. Microorganisms and human disease, infection control and the implications for and applications to the practice of nursing are examined. In this course the use of critical thinking is essential in understanding the relationship between humans and microorganisms; as well as the influence of microorganisms in the wellness-illness continuum.
