PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre

The UWI School of Nursing, Mona has been a designated PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for the Development of Nursing and Midwifery in the Caribbean for over 18 years. The current four-year renewable designation spans November 2020 – November 2024 and its redesignation is pending. 

The Terms of Reference are as follows:

  • At PAHO/WHO's request, the institution will provide technical inputs that will inform PAHO/WHO’s work in supporting nursing and midwifery capacity building activities, including curriculum development, as and when requested by PAHO/WHO.
  • At PAHO/WHO’s request and with its guidance, the institution will support PAHO/WHO in strengthening inter-programmatic collaboration in nursing and midwifery in the Caribbean region and internationally, as and when appropriate.
  • At PAHO/WHO’s request, the institution will provide technical input that may inform PAHO/WHO’s work in strengthening evidence-based practice in nursing and midwifery through research.
