2 This course consists of theoretical and clinical components and introduces the student to the theoretical bases of nursing and the nursing process as the foundation for the study and practice of nursing as well as the application of theory based nursing care. The application of critical thinking skills and evidence based nursing practice is essential in understanding the theoretical bases of nursing practice. Students are guided to use interpersonal relationships effectively in relating to the health care team and in promoting wellness and preventing illness at different stages of the life cycle.
