This practicum emphasizes mastery in the application of the nursing process in caring for individuals across the life cycle, in specialized health care settings. It engages senior nursing students in independent and supervised evidence-based practice specific to mental health nursing, care of elderly adults and specialized medical/surgical nursing. Advanced interpersonal relationship, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are considered pivotal to efficient and accurate planning, implementing and evaluating therapeutic nursing interventions in acute, intermediary and other specialized clinical settings.
