4 This course exposes learners to the scientific method of enquiry and its relevance in investigating phenomena in health care. It engages learners in critical thinking to critique published research findings and theoretical frameworks that have applicability to nursing practice. The course facilitates the development of learners’ competencies in using the research process, using inferential statistics and transferring evidence-based knowledge into practice. The course also exposes learners to ethical frameworks for conducting research and using evidence-based knowledge.
