This paper addresses the role of technical vocational education and training (TVET) in economic development for both national and regional development. Also addressed are the key features of TVET for economic development as a tool for all people, and the benefits of TVET. It is argued that TVET can play a critical role in economic growth and sustainability. This type of education can improve productivity, make people employable, enhance human capital, improve creativity, and atract investment if certain conditions exist in all countries, but most importantly in developing countries such as those in the Caribbean and other Lesser Developed States (LDS). TVET for today’s economy must provide skilled workers at all levels, improve and enhance skill levels on a continuous basis to meet the needs of new and emerging industries, help overcome unemployment, and reduce poverty and social exclusion.
