Abstract:

Dance education embraces more than the development of physical movement skills, for to educate is to promote development of all the major elements of human learning-the cognitive, the affective and the psychomotor. Referring to research by the Association for the Advancement of the Arts (AAAE), Siedel (1997) noted that:
Recent reach indicated that the arts teach students to become self-motivated learners, and to use time and other resources effectively….It seems clear that sustained, carefully planned programs in the arts-are effective in preparing children to succeed in school, work and life.
