Abstract:

These are challenging times for education not only from the social or economic perspective but also because we can no longer dismiss science fiction, techniques other than teachers present face-to-face systems that induce learning. Various technologies now attack some of the foundations on which our pedagogy is based.
We are in what is being called the Age of Cyberspace, where anyone anywhere with the appropriate technology can travel the super information highways of the Internet. “Education" as "schooling" now stands exposed next to sophisticated high-tech computer networking, satellite and cable communications systems, as well as the medium-tech world of "how to" videos. Education systems that fail to adapt or embrace and integrate these changes run the risk of technological disenfranchisement on the planet.
