This is a stimulating book and would be a valuable asset to all teachers of Physics. Great importance has been attached to clarity and there are many illustrations.
The suggested experiments are novel and do not require too much time to set up — an important criterion in an 'A' level course. The inclusion of the “expected results” for the experiments is a welcome innovation.
If the topics in Chapters 2 to 6 (inclusive) have never presented themselves as "difficult topics" one must remember that there has to be a first time! An honest teacher will admit that “difficult topics” are often created by oneself — either by a faulty statement or an inadequate treatment due to one's own sparse knowledge of the topic in question. Whatever our position on the teaching ladder, there is something that can be gleaned from this text.
