The future of education in Jamaica calls for faculty that demonstrates a predisposition to embracing change and to teaching others to do so; a faculty that is proficient in using technology to enrich teaching and learning; a faculty that is globally oriented; and a faculty that is prepared to undertake the challenges that lie ahead. On a local note, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture and the Inter-American Development Bank, recognizing the importance of professional development, are pioneering a Professional Development Protocol which provides a set of materials and resources designed to provide consistent direction and emphasis for professional development in Jamaica with a view to supporting educational improvement.
