This special edition of the Journal of Education and Development in the Caribbean (JEDIC) is timely since it is published at a time when science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and technical vocational education and training (TVET) are being focused on in Jamaica and the Caribbean. The articles in this edition emanated from the second International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean that was held in Jamaica during May 4–6th, 2015 under the theme “STEM Education in TVET: Imperative to National and Regional Development.” This publication is significant because of the increasing demand for high quality STEM education and the need to stimulate creative thinking and innovation for the region to benefit from the current trend of technological developments taking place around the world.
