Many students have poor science knowledge based on their low level performance in science examinations (Forrest, 1992; ·Rainford, 1997). In the Anglophone-Caribbean, reports of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) reveal that many Jamaican candidates, who write the Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (SECE) at the General Proficiency (GP) level in biology, chemistry and physk-s, annually perform poorly.
