Aston Preston Hall Resident Advisor, 2016 Rhodes Scholar

Twenty-three year-old Resident Advisor (RA) of Aston Preston Hall, UWI Mona, Miss Sherona Forrester, is the 2016 Rhodes Scholar, copping the coveted and distinguished position from a field  of eight competitors.

Miss Forrester recently graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Economics with distinction. Her stellar academic record saw her graduating two years earlier with a first class honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Statistics (double major). She currently lectures in the Department of Economics on the Mona Campus.

Miss Forrester is also an avid sports woman who has represented the UWI, Mona in football, basketball, table tennis, and netball. She was also selected to represent Jamaica as a member of the Reggae Girls squad. Miss Forrester is also a talented singer with the Jamaica Youth Chorale.

Miss Forrester resided in Aston Preston Hall for three years as an undergraduate student before becoming a Resident Advisor for the hall in August 2014. As a Resident Advisor, she works with a team of five other Resident Advisors to assist the Student Services and Development Manager, Dr. Lindy Jones, to plan and deliver a wide range of student enhancement and behavior-change programmes to residents of and commuting students attached to the hall.  Throughout her tenure as an RA, she has mentored a number of student leaders; has had responsibility for Residential Sports and Special Events; and has overseen the Health & Wellness Programme and the Preston Entertainment & Cultural Ensemble (PEACE) suite of programmes.

Miss Forrester will complete her duties as Resident Advisor in July 2016 and thereafter pursue an MPhil in Economics at Oxford University in England.
