Welcome to the UWI-Fiscal Research Centre

The UWI-Fiscal Research Centre (FRC) is a nonpartisan academic think tank. It conducts rigorous, high-level research in public finance, enhance postgraduate offerings in public finance and public policy, and, through practitioner-based consulting and training, international conferences and seminars, educate policymakers and the general population on fiscal issues to help them make better decisions. With these undertakings, the FRC hopes to contribute to regional capacity building and the formulation of sound fiscal policies by the fiscal authorities and, in the process, help promote effective Public Finance Management.

Mission

The FRC’s mission is to innovate and inform the Caribbean on fiscal policy research-driven products to achieve sustainable development within the region through improved and sustainable fiscal outcomes.

Thus, the FRC’s mission is congruous with its counterpart, the Department of Economics(DoE) and its affiliates the Inter-American Development Bank and the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy(IFSD) which is to explore new frontier knowledge through applied research and to develop, implement programs in PFM and to support capacity building in this area throughout the Caribbean.

To produce relevant evidence based research, designed to help policymakers and those who hold them accountable understand the impact of public policy decision on individuals, households and businesses.
