The Institute of Caribbean Studies and the Reggae Studies Unit, University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona is pleased to announce that it will host the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON STUART HALL in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences (UWI Mona), the British Council and the Stuart Hall Foundation. Slated for June 1 – 3, 2017, the conference and its related events will seek to honour the work of late intellectual and icon Stuart Hall (1932 – 2014) under the theme Whither the Caribbean?: Stuart Hall’s Intellectual Legacy.

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus will host an Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  at which the name of the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, will be inscribed on the Roll of Honour in the Park in honour of UWI graduates who are, or have been, Heads of Government.
The Park was established at The UWI, Mona Campus in 2005. At that time, the University took the decision to include the names of graduates who had served as Prime Minister of their respective countries up to that time.
There are now some 22 graduates of The UWI who have gone on to become leaders of government.
 
 

The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica. 03 April 2017—The University of the West Indies and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in South Africa have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the establishment of an Institute for Global Africa Affairs, which will focus on research and policy development and assist with curriculum development.
