Abstract:

Affective learning has become increasingly important in the preparation of students for life. This article draws on a study that examined the delivery of Student Services, (the department that concentrates on qualitative affective social learning) in two types of tertiary level institutions - Universities and teachers' colleges - in order to ascertain the value students ascribe to affective offerings delivered by selected Student Services' units measured against the actual satisfaction students derive from accessing the offerings of these units. Utilizing the survey method, stratified random sampling was used to select a sample of 407 students from 4 tertiary level institutions. The findings revealed that irrespective of institutional type and gender, students placed great importance on the offerings of Student Services units but were greatly dissatisfied with the delivery of the offerings.
