This paper presents the development of applied research components linked to a STEM programme in Environmental Sustainability Practices (ESP). The programme is embedded in the competency- based education and training (CBET) model and it anticipates the need for highly educated and trained sustainability practitioners, who will be excellent sustainable development problem solvers.
