The Friendship

Author: Veja Blackman

Once upon a time Your thoughts were my thoughts Your dreams were my dreams Your pain ran through my body as if it was injected through my veins And as it proceeded to my brain, I could easily explain What you were feeling

Many times we cried the same tears Had the same cares And felt the same fears From youthful tragedies We shared the same memories Of the good and the bad, the happy and the sad We became one As if we were joined spiritually we had the same mentality With a similar Personality But the reality is that we started to change tremendously Developing all types of jealousy We slowly but surely Drifted Apart

And now we hardly speak, see each other once a week And all we say is hi and bye And although I may try to deny, deep inside I really want to cry But I stay strong Because although u play tough, I can see through that wall Yes the one you purposely made tall Thinking that if I try to climb it I would fall But no, I wont rush I’ll take it slow Move with the flow One step every hour One movement every minute Getting closer to the top every second Hoping that once you see my effort to start the climb You will begin and meet me half way across the line And again everything will be like once upon a time.
