Global Health embraces the concepts of health equity, justice and human rights for all. In short, it refers to structural and functional frameworks that promote health and wellness for all people utilizing culturally appropriate delivery. Global Health as an emerging discrete area of medicine has three (3) domains namely education, research and practice. The University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Health Strategy will incorporate elements of these domains and, within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Developmental Agenda and the UWI Triple A strategy of Access, Alignment and Agility, prepare graduates to function in local and international health systems providing leadership and quality health care.

The Health Professions training will be focused on the following disciplines initially:

  1. Nursing
  2. Medicine
  3. Imaging Specialist
  4. Pharmacy
  5. Dentistry
