Settling Into a New Country

Adjusting to life in Jamaica is an exciting adventure! While it's  natural to connect with students from your home country, we encourage  you to step outside your comfort zone and make friends from different  backgrounds. Jamaica offers rich cultural experiences, warm hospitality, and countless opportunities to learn and grow. Embrace the local  culture, try new foods, learn some patois, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

“Moving from Trinidad to Jamaica was a big step for me, but UWI Mona quickly felt like home. The International Students Office guided me through finding accommodation, and I made friends from all over the world within my first week. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my university journey.”

BSc Economics

Secure Your Accommodation Early

We strongly advise all regional and international students to secure  their accommodation as early as possible. If you're not satisfied with your initial housing arrangement, don't hesitate to make changes  immediately. Your comfort and peace of mind are essential for academic  success, so take the time to find a living situation that truly feels  like home.
