    This study found that eighty per cent of patients on chronic haemodialysis had moderate malnutrition. Factors associated with malnutrition in patients on dialysis were having end-stage renal disease secondary to diabetes mellitus, dialysis duration for ≤ six months, low serum albumin, pre-dialysis serum creatinine of less than 880 μmol/L, low total cholesterol and presence of arteriovenous fistula access.

    A National Kidney Transplant Programme was started in Trinidad and Tobago in January 2006. Kidneys were procured from mainly living donors. This study looks at the profile and short-term outcomes of 60 consecutive living donors from start to May 2010.
