JamCoders Summer Camp, a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of Science and Technology, AddisCoder, CHOR Foundation, and members of the diaspora, was honored to be among the 47 grantees recognized at the 2024 American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) Grant Award Ceremony. The program received a grant of USD5, 000 to support its ongoing efforts in providing high school students with comprehensive training in algorithms and programming.
Since its launch in Summer 2022 at The UWI Mona campus, the annual summer camp has supported approximately 100 high school. The program is designed for students in 3rd to 5th form (9th-11th grade) and offers a unique opportunity for them to not only develop their programming skill but to engage with peers from diverse backgrounds, and explore the vast potential of the ICT industry.
The upcoming camp, scheduled for June 30-July 27, 2024, promises to be an enriching experience for participants. We are grateful for the continued support of our partners and look forward to empowering the next generation of innovators and leaders in the tech sector.
The JamCoders Summer Camp is proud to be among the recognized grantees and looks forward to continued collaboration with AFJ to empower young minds in the tech industry.
