Climate Extremes Workshop

The Department of Physics and collaborators invite you to participate in a Climate Extremes Workshop entitled “Hurricane Melissa: Is This Our New Normal?”, which will focus on the implications of recent extreme weather events for Jamaica and the wider region. The workshop is scheduled for January 28, 2026, at 8:30 am in the Virtual Lab, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, The UWI Mona.
 
The workshop will feature presentations and discussions on the 2025 hurricane season, led by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (MSJ), the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), and the Climate Studies Group Mona (CSGM).
