FST Shines at 2024 Open House

The Faculty of Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, participated in the university's annual Open House event on November 21-22, 2024. This two-day event, one of the university's largest avenues for promoting tertiary education and increasing student enrollment, attracted prospective students from across Jamaica.

Each department within the Faculty set up interactive STEM booths, showcasing a wide range of displays designed to engage visitors and highlight the exciting opportunities within the sciences and technology fields. Informational flyers detailing the various undergraduate programs were distributed, providing valuable insights into the Faculty's offerings and the diverse academic pathways available to students.

A key highlight of the event was the promotion of the second staging of The UWI Physics Olympiad, a prestigious competition that brings together young minds to explore the wonders of physics through challenging problem-solving and hands-on activities.

The booths were staffed by both students and faculty members, who were on hand to provide information, answer questions, and guide visitors through the displays. The Open House provided an excellent opportunity for students and staff to connect with potential applicants, giving them a firsthand look at the vibrant academic community at UWI Mona.

Overall, the event successfully showcased the Faculty's commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment, while also encouraging future students to consider pursuing degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
