Diptiranjan Behera Delivers Invited Talks on Fuzzy Optimization Models

Dr Diptiranjan Behera, a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies, Mona, delivered two invited talks at academic seminars hosted by institutions in Odisha, India, highlighting advanced perspectives on fuzzy optimisation and linear programming.

On December 23, 2025, he presented an invited lecture titled “From Crisp to Fuzzy: Expanding the Scope of Linear Programming Problem” at a seminar organised by the Department of Mathematics, NIIS Institute of Information Science and Management, Bhubaneswar-54, Odisha. The presentation explored the limitations of classical (crisp) linear programming models and demonstrated how fuzzy approaches provide greater flexibility in handling real-world uncertainty.

Earlier, on November 10, 2025, Diptiranjan Behera delivered another invited talk entitled “When Reality Is Not Crisp: Embracing Fuzziness in Optimisation Models” at a seminar hosted by the Department of Mathematics, M. S. College, Badamba, Cuttack, Odisha. This talk emphasized the relevance of fuzzy set theory in modern optimization problems, particularly where precise data and rigid assumptions are impractical.

Both lectures were well received and contributed to ongoing academic discussions on the application of fuzzy logic in mathematical modeling and optimization.
