FST Representatives Participate in Caribbean Telecommunications Union ICT Week 2025
Dr. Louis-Ray Harris (Senior Lecturer), Kevaughn Williams (Graduate student - MSc Renewable Enegy Management), and Andre Cunningham (Gradute student - MPhil Electronics ) from the Department of Physics proudly represented the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Week 2025, held from September 29 to October 3 at the Pegasus Hotel. This year’s event was hosted under the timely theme “Driving Change: Connecting Futures.”
Throughout the week, the team engaged in a series of high-level meetings and discussions focused on regional transformation through digital innovation. A highlight of the programme was their participation in the CTU 3rd Caribbean ICT Youth Network Meeting, which provided a platform for young professionals to contribute to the future of ICT development in the Caribbean.
As part of the activities, the team also visited JAMICTA – ICT Authority (formerly eGov Jamaica Ltd.), where they toured Jamaica’s main data centre. This facility houses the servers that store and safeguard critical government data and supports the country’s digital infrastructure.
