Zaria Chen Shui Selected for 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum

Zaria Chen Shui, Research Assistant in the Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies, Mona has been selected as one of the young researchers to participate in the prestigious 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). Zaria, a computing alum was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (First Class Honours) in 2024 and continues to demonstrate exceptional promise in the field of computing in research and outreach activities including the annual JamCoders Summer Camp and Girls in ICT Day events.

The Heidelberg Laureate Forum is an annual gathering that brings together the world’s most accomplished laureates in mathematics and computer science with emerging young researchers for a week of dialogue, learning, and inspiration. This year’s forum will take place from September 14 to 19, 2025, in Heidelberg, Germany.

Throughout the week, participants will engage in a wide array of scientific activities, including lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and master classes, all designed to foster interaction and mentorship between early-career researchers and renowned scientific pioneers—such as recipients of the Abel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal, and ACM Prize in Computing.

The Faculty congratulates Zaria on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to her continued success and contributions to the computing community.
