The Board of Directors of CAP plays a vital governance and oversight role in the company, which represents the Jamaican Government’s interest in alumina production, including its stake in the Jamalco alumina joint venture. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction and long-term objectives of the company, approving major policies, investments and corporate plans, overseeing management performance to ensure alignment with its mandate, ensuring strong corporate governance, ethical practices and regulatory compliance, and protecting and advancing shareholder and stakeholder interests, including those of the Government of Jamaica. Dr James-Williamson is a Senior Lecturer, Museum Curator and Head of the Department of Geography and Geology at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, with research expertise in geoheritage, geoarchaeology and geoscience education.
