The Faculty of Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies, Mona proudly congratulates Dr. Camilo Trench, Lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences, on his appointment as a Game Warden under the Wild Life Protection Act, effective January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
Dr. Trench, a respected marine ecologist and conservationist, has dedicated his academic and professional career to the study and protection of Jamaica’s marine and terrestrial ecosystems. His research focuses on marine biodiversity, coral reef conservation, and sustainable resource management, making him well, suited for this vital role.
As a Game Warden, Dr. Trench will be tasked with enforcing wildlife protection laws, monitoring endangered species, preventing illegal hunting and poaching, and promoting environmental awareness and conservation initiatives across the island. Game Wardens are critical to upholding the goals of the Wild Life Protection Act, ensuring that Jamaica’s unique biodiversity is preserved for future generations.
