The University of the West Indies, Mona, regrets to inform you that our former colleague, Ms. Christine Montague, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. Ms. Montague joined The University of the West Indies, Mona, in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology as a Laboratory Technician, in 1996, where she made an invaluable contribution to the university before retiring after 20 years in 2016.
Ms. Montague, a dedicated and hardworking Laboratory Technician, has been praised for her passion, candour, and commitment to safety and security. Her dedication over the years to the Department contributed to a safe and conducive learning environment. She was specially commended for her efficient laboratory organization, technical assistance in the Distance
Education Programme for Introductory chemistry, and her contribution to the success of the CAPE Chemistry Workshop for high school teachers.
In light of this death, The UWI flags was flown at half-mast on Friday, October 4, 2024.
The University extends condolences to the family and friends of the late Ms. Montague.
