Physics team participates in Multi-Country Climate Resilient Workshop in Trinidad

A team from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, The UWI Mona, participated in the Rapid Appraisal Workshop, “Multi-Country Climate Resilient Urban Planning Gap and Needs Assessment, Strategy and Action Plan,” held in Trinidad from September 2-6, 2024. Mr. Dudley Williams, a graduate student who attended the event in person, addressed energy opportunities, highlighting wind energy as the most promising low-carbon technology for Trinidad. He also facilitated a plenary debate on challenges related to water, energy, telecommunications, and food supply, engaging in a thought-provoking discussion on issues linked to government incentives.

Alongside him, Dr. Jayaka Campbell, a lecturer, delivered a talk on “Environment, Climate Change, and Low Carbon Technology.” Dr. Campbell's virtual presentation focused on expected climate changes in Trinidad over the next 30 years, with an emphasis on the country's flooding issues. Meanwhile, Miss Chantal Simmonds and Mr. Rickardo Anderson, both graduate students, participated in group discussions on urban planning and the importance of gender-inclusive policies.
