The Faculty of Science and Technology is pleased to announce that Professor Gunjan Mansingh has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Authority, effective April 2, 2025, for a two-year term.
Prof. Mansingh, a leading academic and former Head of the Department of Computing at The University of the West Indies, Mona, brings a wealth of experience in information systems, data analytics, and digital transformation. She has been a strong advocate for using technology to drive national development and has contributed to Jamaica’s digital strategy through various leadership roles, including chairing eGov Jamaica and serving on the Prime Minister’s Digital Transformation Advisory Council.
Her appointment comes at a critical time as the ICT Authority, established under the ICT Authority Act (2019), continues its mission to modernize and unify the government’s use of technology. The Authority is a statutory body with a wide-ranging mandate, which includes:
Developing and implementing a national ICT strategy aligned with Jamaica’s development goals.
Setting and enforcing ICT policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure efficient use of ICT resources across government.
Delivering shared ICT services to ministries, departments, and agencies to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
Leading digital transformation efforts across the public sector and the wider society through initiatives like e-government services, ICT consultancy, and coordination.
The ICT Authority was created to serve as a single, authoritative body guiding ICT service delivery in the public sector—helping to ensure smarter, more connected, and more responsive government services.
With Prof. Mansingh at the helm, the Authority is well-positioned to advance its strategic goals and continue driving innovation across the country.
