The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Mona, through its Department of Computing in the Faculty of Science and Technology, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Precision Cybertechnologies and Digital Solutions Limited to establish the Precision Cybertechnologies Cybersecurity Research and Teaching Laboratory and Internship Programme.
The project will be led by Dr. Curtis Busby-Earle, Senior Lecturer and Computer Scientist in the Department of Computing. His research focuses on data and software security, software engineering (with an emphasis on requirements engineering), and more recently, quantum computing.
The initiative aims to provide students with practical training, industry exposure, and research opportunities in cybersecurity. It will also foster collaboration between academic and industry partners to address real-world digital security challenges.
This partnership represents a strategic step toward strengthening Jamaica’s cybersecurity capacity through education, applied research, and workforce development.
