
The Faculty of Science and Technology extends congratulations to Dr Thera Edwards on her selection to complete the highly sought-after Certificate in Global Digital Infrastructure (GDI) offered by the University of California, Berkeley.
Launched in 2025, the programme is the first university-level certificate of its kind focused on the technical, economic, legal, environmental, and social dimensions of global digital infrastructure, including subsea telecommunications cables and data centres. The programme was co-designed with leading industry partners, including SubOptic, Infrastructure Masons and DCD Academy.
Dr Edwards was selected from a highly competitive pool of over 300 applicants, demonstrating her outstanding professional accomplishments and commitment to advancing knowledge in the rapidly evolving digital infrastructure sector.
The programme equips participants with critical insights into the systems that power today’s global digital economy and explores the environmental, policy, engineering, and societal implications shaping the future of internet infrastructure and artificial intelligence technologies.
