Professor Daniel Coore’s contribution to artificial intelligence education and institutional policy continues through new appointments to AI governance bodies at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and the JN Group.
A Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology, at The UWI, Mona, Professor Coore contributes to teaching, research and outreach in computing. He was also instrumental in leading some of the earliest AI training initiatives for teachers across Jamaica, helping educators build their understanding of the technology and explore its applications in teaching and learning.
The Technical Sub-Committee is responsible for maintaining the currency of the UWI AI Policy Guidelines, a living document supporting the UWI AI Policy. It also monitors emerging AI technologies to identify developments that require an institutional response. In this role, Professor Coore will help ensure that the University’s guidance evolves alongside advances in AI.
In July 2026, Professor Coore was also appointed to the JN Group AI Council, a newly constituted body responsible for overseeing AI policy and governance within the JN Group. This appointment extends his contribution to AI governance into the corporate sector.
The Faculty of Science and Technology congratulates Professor Coore on these appointments and celebrates his continued contribution to AI education and governance.
