Dudley Williams, a graduate student in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology at The UWI Mona, had a productive and impactful November (celebrated as Science and Technology Month) 2024, showing his growing expertise in sustainable and resilient technologies. On November 1, he participated in the Shipping Association Logistics Conference at the AC Marriott Hotel, where discussions focused on Jamaica’s potential as a logistics hub in the changing global economy. Dudley’s involvement highlighted his understanding of the connection between logistics and sustainable infrastructure.
On November 12, Dudley provided technical support for the recommissioning of The UWI Net-Zero building, the first of its kind in the Caribbean. This project emphasized his commitment to promoting eco-friendly solutions. Later, on November 19, he contributed to the electric vehicle demonstration at the "Walking in His Footsteps" event, showcasing the importance of clean energy options.
A key moment for Dudley was his presentation at the ONE-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference from November 20-22, where he shared his research on green cooling technologies. His presentation, titled "The Caribbean Building Sector: Resilient to Extreme Wind, Not Temperature," sparked thoughtful discussions among staff and students.
Dudley ended the month by attending the launch of the Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity at the UWI Regional Building on November 22, further supporting his passion for resilient infrastructure. His contributions throughout the month reflect his growing knowledge and dedication. The Faculty is proud of his work and looks forward to his continued success in his research.
