All individuals visiting Jamaica are required to provide a valid and officially accepted travel document to confirm their identity and nationality. While a passport is the most widely used and favored travel document, alternative types of travel documentation may also be considered.

Entry Visa

Nationals of some countries are required to acquire an Entry Visa before travelling to Jamaica. Entry visas can be acquired from the nearest Jamaican High Commission, Embassy or Consulate.

Extention of Stay

All non-Jamaican students admitted to the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus) are required to get an “Extension of Stay”. The International Students Office helps you to navigate the process which ensures your legal right to remain in Jamaica as a student. The International Students Office will guide you through this process and acts as the liaison between you and the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA). Additionally, Non-Commonwealth nationals over 16 years who are residing in Jamaica for more than 6 months need to pay a special registration fee and are also required to get a Multple Entry Visa. Please see a list of the fees below:
