The University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona encourages faculty and staff to participate in outgoing mobility programs to enhance their professional development, build capacity within the institution, and foster international collaboration. These opportunities allow staff members to gain new perspectives, share best practices, and build networks with colleagues at partner institutions worldwide. Participation in these programs not only benefits the individual staff members but also contributes to the overall academic and administrative excellence at UWI Mona. Guidelines for Outgoing Staff Mobilities
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a full-time staff member at UWI Mona.
- Must have completed at least one year of service at the university.
- Must obtain approval from their immediate supervisor and department head.
Application Process:
- Identify a suitable mobility program and host institution.
- Connect with relevant department at host institution to determine feasibility and timing.
- Consult with the International Office on your goals and mobility plans.
- Submit a completed application form along with a detailed mobility plan, outlining the objectives and expected outcomes.
- Attach any required supporting documents, such as a letter of support from the host institution.
- Submit the application to the International Office.
Selection Criteria:
- Applications will be evaluated based on the relevance of the mobility to the applicant's professional development and the strategic goals of The UWI Mona.
- Priority may be given to applicants who have not previously participated in a mobility program.
Duration:
- Mobility periods can range from a few days to several months, depending on the program and agreement with the host institution.
Funding and Financial Support:
- Faculty and Staff members are responsible for securing any additional funding needed.
- Faculty and Staff can seek to access staff benefits such as “Assisted Passage Allowance” or “Study & Travel Grant” to fund parts of their mobility.
- Additional financing may be available in some instances. Check with the Exchange Coordinator for more details.
Reporting and Follow-Up:
- Upon return, staff members are required to submit a report detailing their activities, achievements, and any insights gained during the mobility.
- Staff members may be asked to share their experiences with colleagues through presentations or workshops.
