Overview
Dr. Trench is a Marine Biologist and ecologist with over 20 years experience. He may be contacted for information on academic resources, research activities and opportunities, internships, boat use, diving and hyperbaric chamber operations; and assistance with coordinating your visit to DBML. Before joining the Centre, Dr. Trench served as a High School science teacher and a national training facilitator in Environmental Awareness and the Flora and Fauna of Jamaica. He also has experience in aquaculture as a shrimp hatchery technician and manager. He assumed the position of Scientific Officer at the Port Royal Marine Laboratory and later transitioned to DBML as Chief Scientific Officer.

Dr. Trench earned a BSc in Zoology and Botany and later pursued a Master of Science in Tropical Ecosystems Assessment and Monitoring from the University of the West Indies. His PhD work covered Mangrove Forest Restoration and Conservation and assisted in pioneering a coastal forest nursery. He is currently involved in several coastal restoration initiatives in Jamaica.
