Creative Industries Seminar under the theme: "Exporting Creativity"
The Institute of Caribbean Studies and the Reggae Studies Unit, in collaboration with the British Council will host a two-day Creative Industries Seminar under the theme "Exporting Creativity" on March 25 and 26 at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston. Registration begins at 8.30 a.m. each day. Presentations run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. each day.
The event's key focus is to facilitate an understanding of potential opportunities in overseas markets and to provide a map of how to export creative products.
Speakers include representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jamaica Customs, JAMPRO, and UK Consultants, Ziggi Golding and Neil Robinson.

Early Childhood Development Conference
The Dudley Grant Memorial Trust presents the Early Childhood Development Conference under the theme: Early Childhood Development for Nation building in Jamaica: Retrospective and Prospective.
The Opening Ceremony takes place on March 25th at 5:30 p.m., and the Conference sessions start at 8:00 a.m. on March 26th.
Keynote Speaker is Professor Susan Walker, Director, Tropical Medicine Research Institute, The UWI Mona.
Registration Fee including Lunch and Coffee breaks is $1000 per person. After March 20th the fee is $1500.
Caribbean Child Research Conference
The Caribbean Child Research Conference is a regional interdisciplinary conference covering a range of child related themes.
Since 2006, regional and national agencies have collaborated on n annual conference under the theme "Building a Region Fit for Children: Promoting Child Rights through Research". UNICEF has funded the event from its inception. In 2009, the conference received additional funding from the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ).
Colon Cancer Medical Symposium 2013
The Jamaica Cancer Society, in association with the Department of Medicine (DMED), Association of Consultant Physicians of Jamaica (ACPJ) and Association of West Indian Gastroenterologists (AWIG)presents a medican symposium focused on Colon Cancer.
Topics include: Colon Cancer in Latin America - How do we compare?; Surgery and Chemotherapy - What hope exists; Colon Cnacerlocally in 2013 - Forward backward or standing still?

Literacy Symposium 2013
The School of Education in the Faculty of Humanities and Education presents Literacy Symposium 2013 under the theme, Literacy for Peace, Progress and Prosperity. The keynote speakers are: Professor Beverly Bryan from UWI Mona's School of Education, and Dr. Gloria Boutte of the Department of Instruction and Teacher Education from the University of South Carolina.
Conference themes include: Literacy and social justice; literacy and violence mitigation; critical literacy; Interventions, inititiatives and innnovation in literacy development for social and economic change.

Workshop on Conflict Management
The Workshop is a collaborative effort by the School of Education and Operation Save Jamaica. The participants are teachers and community organizers from schools and organizations in volatile communities. These participants are confronted on a daily basis, with situations of unresolved hurt and resentment among groups which are usually played out in more and more violence and which presents roadblocks to meaningful change.This Workshop in Restorative Justice is aimed at providing the participants with a tool which seeks to repair harm and heal hurts caused by acts of violence, through a process of helping parties in a dispute to face each other, speak and listen to each other and arrive at their own solutions.
Health Awareness Symposium
The Valley Foundation, formed by students of the University, presents a Health Awareness Symposium focused on promoting HIV testing and awareness. The Symposium will feature Lectures on health awarness and staying HIV negative; Free HIV/STI testing; Demonstrations on how to do it; Giveaways and prizes.

Third Sport Anti-Doping Workshop
The Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Norman Manley Law School, in collaboration with Jeffrey Benz, former General Counsel, United States Olympic Committee present the 'Anti-doping in Sport 2013' workshop.This third in the series of anti-doping in sport workshops to be staged on the grounds of the campus, will examine the Jamaican programme for strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on strengthening the weaknesses, real or perceived.The workshop will feature the controversial and well respected Richard 'Dick' Pound, who has openly questioned the bona fides of the Jamaican testing and assurance programme. The programme will then present an opportunity to dialogue with Pound and other presenters.
