Conversations with Danny Glover @ UWI
Danny Glover, actor, producer, humanitarian, and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, has been a commanding presence on screen, stage and television for more than 25 years. He is a friend of The UWI, and was honoured with the Bob Marley Award by the American Foundation for The UWI (AFUWI) in 2009.
Mr. Glover will be hosted by the Vice-Chancellor on a familiarisation visit to The UWI in Jamaica from October 3 -6 and will be guest speaker at a Lecture on October 5, 2015 to connect and communicate with students and leaders of the creative industry.
The Lecture, “Conversations with Danny Glover @ UWI” will be held in the Faculty of Law Lecture Room 2 from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015.

Abstract
The medical profession already has a strong ethical framework that guides its operation. So the lecture asks the question, why are human rights important as a way of understanding patient care? This is an even more pointed question given the contested nature of human rights in the Caribbean.

The Inaugural Lecture in the Distinguished Lecture Series
This Distinguished Lecture will be delivered by Professor Eilis Ferran, Chair of the Law Faculty and Pro Vice-Chancellor Designate, Cambridge University. Professor Ferran has written extensively on UK, EU and international financial regulation, company law and corporate finace law. Her recent publications include contributions to Ferran, Moloney, Hill and Coffee, The Regulatory Aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis (CUP2012) and the second edition of the textook Principles of Corproate Finance Law (OUP,2014)
