Reggae Talk by Mutabaruka
The Department of Literatures in English, in association with the Faculty of Medical Sciences, invites you to the first in its series of "Reggae Talks" for the month of March. Mutabaruka will speak on "The Business of Reggae Poetry". The talk takes place on Tuesday, March 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sir Kenneth Standard Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Medical Sciences. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

Reggae Talks - Michael St. George
Jamaican-born dub poet, recording artiste, playwright and educator Michael St. George will speak on Tuesday, February 9 at the University of the West Indies, Mona in the "Reggae Talks" series hosted by the Department of Literatures in English. Based in Toronto, St. George is a politically engaged activist whose poetry advocates social justice. St George will focus on "Dub Poetry in Transition". His talk takes place in the N2, Faculty of Humanities and Education, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

"Misconduct in Public Office" - Faculty of Law URD 2016 Signature Event
Our signature event will be a Panel Discussion entitled: “Misconduct in Public Office” which will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 5:30 pm in Lecture Theatre 2. Our panellists include: Mr Dirk Harrison, Contractor General of Jamaica and Mr Terrence Williams, Commissioner of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

19th Annual Bob Marley Lecture
The premier annual event hosted by the Institute of Caribbean Studies & the Reggae Studies Unit at the UWI is the Bob Marley Lecture. Held in Reggae Month, the lecture is intended to commemorate the birth of Marley as Jamaica’s most successful reggae icon and celebrate reggae among the 7 genres of music Jamaica gave the world in the latter half of the C20th. Inaugurated in 1997, the lecture has traditionally focused on a wide range of topics from Marley, Trench Town, Rastafari and psycho-historiography, to Jamaica’s music business and creative products.
