UWI, Mona -WJC Week: Open House 2 and Seminars
The UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus has organized an Open House for 6th formers and guidance counsellors on Thursday, November 29 starting at 9 am. There will be a special Guidance Counsellors' Seminar at 9 am to provide information on the range of programmes offered at UWI, Mona and career specific information regarding the programme offerings.
A special lecture entitled, "How Politics Keeps Us Poor: On the Political Economy of Underdevelopment" is set for November 28, 2012 at 11 am. Dr. Damien King, Head, Department of Economics, UWI, Mona will deliver the lecture.

Economics Public Lecture- “Why We Are Poor”
“Why We Are Poor” is the topic for discussion at the public Lecture hosted by the Department of Economics, UWI, Mona. Dr. Damien King, Senior Lecturer and Head of the department will deliver the Lecture. The event is slated for Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 5 pm at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona.

UWI Open Campus Public
The Caribbean Child Development Centre (CCDC) at the Open Campus, The UWI in partnership with the Childhood and Youth Research Institute at the Anglia Ruskin University in England, will present a special public lecture entitled, “Children’s Rights, Gang Culture and Citizenship: Empowerment and Inclusion Towards Reducing Youth Gang Culture”. The public lecture takes place on Thursday, November 29, 2012 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Undercroft, UWI, Mona.

6th Edward Baugh Lecture
The sixth annual Edward Baugh Lecture which will be delivered by Professor Carolyn Cooper is entitled, “Islands Beyond Envy: Finding Our Tongue in the Creole-Anglophone Caribbean”. The Lecture is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, The UWI, Mona.
The university and the public are invited to attend.

Launch of the Mona Law Series 2012
The Faculty of Law at The University of the West Indies, Mona will launch the Mona Law Series (MLS) on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 4 pm in the Executive Conference Room. The Series will entail seminars led by the UWI Mona Law faculty on issues of interest to the wider University community, the judiciary and the legal profession.
The first seminar in the Series is titled 'Caribbean Approaches to Legal Interpretation'. Dr. Leighton Jackson, Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean and Ms. Tracy Robinson, Senior Lecturer will speak on this occasion.

UWI, Mona-WJC Public Lecture
“Engaging Parents and Families in Early Childhood Development Programmes” is the title of the public lecture organized by the UWI, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus. The Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Carmen Bovell, Visiting Fulbright Scholar, School of Education, The UWI, Mona. The event takes place on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 5:30 pm at the UWI, Mona-WJC.
The Lecture is designed to celebrate November as Parents Month and as a medium for the Campus to continue to engage the Montego Bay community in relevant discussions.

Special guest Presenter will be Dr. Supachai Panitchpadki, Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
