Marcus Garvey’s Son Delivers Lecture at UWI,Mona
Dr. Julius Garvey, the son of national hero, Marcus Garvey will deliver a lecture entitled, “The Relevance of Garveyism in Jamaica Today: Fifty Years After Political Independence.” The event is slated for Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 6 pm at the Council Room, UWI, Mona. The Lecture is a part of the 125th Garvey Anniversary (Earthday) celebrations in Jamaica set for August 17-19.
The Lecture will explore the relevance of Garvey’s teachings of African Identity, Black Pride, Black Economic Independence, Black Self Reliance and Black Unity in the Jamaican society.

Energy Lecture - Wind, Hydro and Wave
The Department of Physics, UWI, Mona will host the eighth lecture in its Energy Nexus Series entitled, ‘Options for Wind, Hydro, and Wave Systems’. Dr. Gary Jackson, Executive Director, the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) will deliver the Lecture on this occasion. The lecture is set to take place on Tuesday, July 10 at 5:30 pm at Physics Lecture Rm B, UWI Mona.

“Issues and Challenges to Implementing Community Policing as Organizational Change” is the title of the seminar being organized by the Department of Government, UWI, Mona. The seminar is slated for Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10 am in the Faculty of Social Sciences Conference Room. The presentation will be made by Dormah Harrison, Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Candidate in the Department.
