Gaye-Leon Williams received her Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) in Biology and Spanish from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She received her Master of Philosophy in Spanish (Foreign Language Teaching) from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Ms. Williams is also the programme coordinator and a lecturer (Beginners’ Spanish) at the Caribbean Maritime University. At UWI Mona, she currently teaches beginner level Spanish courses. Her research interests include the teaching of foreign languages (Spanish) within the context of the Jamaican Language Situation and language awareness. As an entrepreneur, part of her business includes editing books and academic papers, tutoring Spanish and Biology as well as blogging. She has written editorial pieces about language for the Jamaica Gleaner and has published one peer review article. She is a member of the Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association of Jamaica (TIA) and the Association of Graduate Researchers in Education (AGRE).
