The Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) Graduate Awards Ceremony took place on November 30 at the UWI Regional Headquarters. Top performers in each Graduate Programme, in the MBA concentrations, as well as all those who received Distinctions, were specially recognized at the event.

In addition, groups who performed best in the Final Field Project/Paper received awards and commendation for their hard work. These projects were done in conjunction with private sector entities to provide a solution to an existing problem under the supervision of a faculty member as well as a company representative.

A high point of the evening was the presentation of the Executive Director’s Award: Most Outstanding Academic Achievement to Mikhail Thompson, who completed the MSc Corporate Finance programme.

The event was attended by awardees and their guests, faculty of MSBM, as well as representatives from the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.  Special greetings were delivered by the Acting Deputy Principal, Professor Marvin Reid as well as Prof Marcia Roye, Director, Graduate Studies and Research.

The Guest Speaker for the evening was, Ms. Allison Peart, Managing Director, A. Peart Services Ltd and MSBM Board member. In a very spirited presentation which was well received by all in attendance, Ms. Peart urged the graduates to focus on being ethical in their dealings and to ensure that they pursue excellence at all times.

The Ceremony marked another pivotal moment for MSBM, as it was the first that the School was hosting the function as a merged entity.

While the former Mona School of Business hosted ceremonies prior to the merger in 2012, since then, the School joined with the Faculty of Social Sciences to acknowledge the outstanding performers.
