This clinical practicum focuses on the use of the nursing process in caring for individuals and their families in the medical-surgical setting particularly during childhood, adolescence and adulthood stages of the life-cycle. Especial emphasis is placed in the application of the knowledge gained in pharmacology and the development and refinement of psychomotor and interpersonal relationship skills. Additionally, this practicum promotes critical thinking and applying evidence-based practice to nursing care planning, implementation and evaluation along the wellness-illness continuum, unique to the named stages of human development in the medical-surgical setting.
