There is an absence of research in Trinidad and Tobago that investigates the swing voter dilemma in voting behaviour. As with previous studies on voting be- haviour in Trinidad and Tobago, this study focuses on the island of Trinidad (the significantly larger island of the twin-island state of Trinidad and Tobago). This article addresses the prevalence of swing voters in Trinidad, their particular geo- graphic concentration, who they are, the factors that drive their voting decisions and whether they value their vote more when they are located in a marginal constituency. Additionally, this article examines how swing voters cope in a deeply ethnic-divided society such as Trinidad where the two dominant ethnic groups cling to their co- ethnic political parties, leaving a minority mixed population to carry the burden of deciding the outcome of elections.
 
Il y a une absence de recherche à Trinité-et-Tobago qui étudie le dilemme de l’électeur swing dans le comportement de vote. Comme pour les études précédentes sur le comportement électoral à Trinité-et-Tobago, cette étude se concentre sur l’île de Trinité-et-Tobago (l’île considérablement plus grande de l’État jumeau de Trinité-et-Tobago).
