Abstract:

This fairly extensive monograph provides both a descriptive and, in parts, an analytical account of the provisions for adult and non-formal education in Jamaica. In preparing this book the author drew upon his wide experience as an adult educator and researcher. The author is a Jamaican educator and the presentation reflects his understanding of the philosophy of adult education, the psyche of the Jamaican people and the influence of his torical factors, such as slavery and colonialism, on the local response to educational provisions.
